Alter ego
Fei Wang is the owner / designer of a bespoke luxury eyewear brand. The brand specialises in handmade bespoke sunglasses and spectacles made from vintage acetate sheets. All her high-end models are made in a small independent factory in UK by a team of highly skilled technicians. Her clientele are lovers of the arts with an individual style.
She started out selling her eyewear on a one to one basis, listening to each individual’s wants and needs and producing one off creations just for them. Word of mouth was the only promotion she relied on and news traveled fast. She approached me to launch the brand to wider audience. I started with a logo mark. She was after something minimal and strong. I reduced her initials to simple shapes and landed on this strong, ownable logo that took influences from the Bauhaus movement.
I worked closely with her on concerting and art directing the fashion shoot. She wanted to work with reflections as a metaphor for the duality we find when we wear sunglasses - you take on an alternative character when hiding behind your shades.
We did two shoots, one on location for pos, press and print and another studio shoot for the look book.
